What’s the temperature like in Sandbridge?
Is it possible to rent a home for less than a week in Sandbridge?
During the off season, some of our rentals offer a 3 night rate. You can search them online but unfortunately, stays lasting less than a week can not be booked online. Please call a Reservationist at 1-800-933-4800 for additional information.
Can I bring my boat, jet ski, kayak, etc?
Sandbridge currently does not have a public launch site for the ocean or bay. However, some of our waterview and bay homes offer access to the bay via private boat ramps and docks. Watercraft to be used in the bay should be limited to kayaks, canoes, jet skis, and motorized boats with a maximum water draw of 12”. The nearest location for a public launch site is Rudee Inlet, approximately 20 minutes from Sandbridge. Travel Protection Insurance
? Do I need it?
Travel Protection Insurance: This insurance can protect you and your family from expenses you may incur due to illness, injuries, weather, and other unforeseen circumstances. For your convenience and protection we have added the cost of a travel protection plan covering the amount of your rent. Do you need a fishing license for the ocean or bay?
A license is required for all fishing in Virginia for individuals over the age of 16. Surf Fishing requires a license. Licenses can be purchased locally at Margie and Ray’s Restaurant and Bait Shop (757) 426-2397 or the local WalMart*. Five day and annual licenses are available for a reasonable fee. When do the mosquitoes come out?
Since mosquitoes like to live around the water, expect an occasional bite or two. Please bring insect repellent with you when you come.

Locally caught seafood and crabs, as well as fresh produce, can be purchased at several nearby locations:

The local Sandbridge Market also offers fresh shrimp, as well as a wide variety of grocery items and incidentals.
Where is the nearest grocery store and ABC store?
The local Sandbridge Market is open 7 days a week. The closest large chain grocery store is Food Lion. WalMart*, Farm Fresh, and Bloom, they are located within a short driving distance. The Red Mill Commons shopping center offers various restaurants, specialty shops, liquor stores, clothing stores and pharmacies.
Pet Laws?
Most houses do not allow pets. If you wish to bring a pet be sure to select a cottage that allows them. A taxable, non-refundable pet fee will be charged for each pet. This fee is used for additional cleaning and to exterminate upon departure. No cats are allowed at any cottage. Any pet found on or around a non-pet cottage is grounds for immediate eviction and forfeiture of all monies paid.
While vacationing with your pet in Sandbridge, you must observe the local pet ordinances. Pets are permitted on the beach before 10 am and after 6 pm Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day weekend. Leash laws are in effect at all times.

What is a bulkhead and will it block me from getting to the beach?
A bulkhead or seawall is built on the east side of many oceanfront homes for protection against severe coastal storms. Not all oceanfront homes have direct beach access. Public beach paths provide access stairs every 4 or 5 houses when private stairs are not present.
Occupancy Questions?
Your lease period begins after 3:00 pm on check in date and ends at 10:00 am on your departure date. Occupancy is restricted solely to the specific number of occupants as advertised for each home. more rental info...

Parking in Sandbridge?
Most of our cottages are within easy walking distance to the beach. If you wish to visit other parts of Sandbridge that are not within walking distance, free parking is available from the 3200 Block of Sandfiddler Road to the 3600 block of Sandfiddler Road. In addition, there are two public beach areas that offer public parking for a fee: the 2500 block of Sandpiper Road (near the Sandbridge Market) and at the end of Sandpiper Road, (pass the 3600 Block), at Little Island State Park.
Lifeguarded beaches?
There are two public beach areas in Sandbridge (see above) that have lifeguards on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day. All other sections of Sandbridge Beach are unguarded so please use caution.
Wild Horses?
Wild horses are frequently seen in Sandbridge and should be admired only from a distance. Keep in mind that these animals are wild and should not be fed or cornered. Please call our Reservations department if you spot one of these animals, and we will contact the proper authorities to have it safely returned to Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge is home to countless waterfowl and other wildlife like deer, fox, feral pigs, and a variety of turtles and snakes.
Internet Access?
Some of our cottages provide internet access free of charge to the tenants. Tenants must have their own laptop unless otherwise specified by the home’s amenities.
