It's that time of year when we all gather for bbqs, picnics, and fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July. Here's what's going on in Virginia Beach.

The Annual 4th of July Boat Parade will be taking place in Sandbridge at 7pm. Sandbridge Civic Legue and volunteers will be leading this patriotic parade through Back Bay. The number of boats to participate has quadrupled since its inception. The parade route will start in Mill Pond then move up and down Sandpiper/Blue Bill and Blue Bill/Wooduck.

The Stars and Stripes Explosion takes place in multiple locations in the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. There will be live entertainment in the following stages:

17th St: Chester B's Motown Review (7pm-10pm)

24th St: BJ Griffin & The Galaxy Groove and The Tidewater Winds with the Regent University Singers (7:30pm-9:30pm)

31st St: The Deloreans (7pm-11pm)

Fireworks are scheduled to take place at 9:30pm.

Also in Virginia Beach, there will be a 4th of July celebration at Mount Trashmore. This is a family friendly event that starts at 4pm. The schedule is as follows:
